Many of my articles are about coastal walks, mostly around Devon and Cornwall and the South West Coast Path.
Although I enjoy inland walks, especially our two great Moors – Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor – I am a keen photographer. Unless I’m out on the moor at sunrise or sunset, I find there is more to snap during the day on coastal walks. The above photo was taken at around midday on the coast path to Lansallos, between Polperro and Polruan. I think it’s a fine example of what the terraine on the coast path can offer – any time of the day.
Hiking and walking are a big part of my life. There are countless articles supporting that walking is good for us. It helped me to lose weight (3.5 stone) and to keep the weight under control – well most of it. It’s also good for our mental well-being. I can get the week’s stresses and concerns into some sort of order in my head when I’m out walking. Especially on coastal walks where the scenery is often breath-taking. Although the coast path can be a challenge in places, I think the sense of achievement helps to nourish the mind.
Use the Coastal Walks category. This covers the many guided walks that I written, and the walks I have yet to write about. I hope they inspire you to get out and try one or two – in part or in full.
New to walking and would like to give it a go? Read my article, A Beginner’s Guide to Hiking and Walks.
My photos are for sale as prints. Here is a small selection, and there are more on my Shop page. Also, if you see any photos you like in any of my articles, Contact me so that we can discuss the options.
